You weigh 12lbs 4oz. You are 23.5 inches long! You are wearing a size 1 diaper. You are fitting into size 0-3 months very good. You absolutely can NOT wear newborn anymore...you are too long. You would have enough space/room in them, they just don't seem to stretch long enough! :) I don't really know how quickly you will grow, so I ahven't bought any clothes for the cold weather yet, but I have my eye on an adorable fleece sweater vest outfit at Penny's!
You are eating 4-5oz every 4 to 5 hours. Sometimes you get off and only eat like 2-3oz and you get hungry MUCH sooner! You have had rice cereal in your formula since you were 3 weeks old! That much food doesn't seem like enough, but the dr. says you have fine eating habits because you are thriving beautifully! I really like your Dr., she makes me feel like a great mother every time I leave! You are in the above average group of children your age.
You are cooing and ahhing. You just laugh at daddy every time he talks to you! You do this thing where you turn your head to the side and smile this big smile like you are being timid and shy! It is the sweetest thing!
You aren't getting startled much anymore. You still do it sometimes when we get you naked and ready for bath time. Your eyes get real big (like a possum - lol) and you just hold your arms out to the side and kind of roll back and forth a little! You LOVE to be naked. I think if I never put clothes on you again you would be the happiest baby. It's funny how things change...you HATED it at one month old.
You also LOVE your bathtime! You would just lay in there and kick your legs around in it. You don't splash or anything much just because you are just now starting to voluntarily move your arms and legs around. But you will sit there and just make this (ahhhhh) sound cause you like the way the water feels...especially on your head!
You have started to try and laugh! You do this thing where you let out air and suck back in and it makes a noise in your throat and to us it sounds like a laugh! You are always smiling when you do it, so I know you are happy, so it must be a laugh!
It won't hold your attention long because you are still too young, but when it does catch your attention, you love watching the tv screen. You will just stare and stare. Daddy and I decided we are going to go get some baby einstein stuff for you this weekend! You will love the flashing colors...especially withing the next month or so! We are also going to start letting you look at yourself in the mirror. We read that it is a good way for you to start learning how to communicate. Sometime you could just watch a ceiling fan! But that also doesn't hold your attention long! You are just too you\ng for anything to hold your attention for hours.
Speaking of hours...you are supposed to try and have a nap twice a day for an hour/few hours. Your Dr. says that some babies don't require that much sleep, but if you don't take a nap you get grumpy by the afternoon/evening.
You absolutely hate tummy time, but you need it because you will never strengthen those muscles! You are trying to hold your head up on your own and you are doing such a good job! You can, but it's obviously still a little wobbly. You will get the hang of it before we know it!
You aren't a huge paci, but you can't really fall asleep without it. It's weird. On occasion you can, but most of the time, not. You have discovered your hands and fingers (sort of)...well you have discovered that you like sucking on your hands and fingers. You are such a squirmy baby! If you weren't so squirmy and ended up working your hand away from your mouth, I think you could just lay there all day content as can be sucking on that hand. The noises you make just crack me and daddy up!
I have to rock you to sleep! Sometimes when I lay you down you grunt and stuff, but mostly go back to sleep. We still have nights where you don't, but most of the time you do. You are trying SO HARD to consistently sleep through the night. You have done SOO good the past 4 nights. One of those nights you did wake up at 3:30AM to eat but your eating habits were off pretty bad that day! Last night you slept from 9:30 to 6AM. This morning you also went to the bathroom (and I don't mean pee pee) without a diaper on...all over the changing table pad. You just watched me while you did it and smiled the WHOLE time! As stinky as it was...I had a smile on my face the whole time I was cleaning it up! You brighten my day more than I EVER thought you would or could! You usually go to bed around 9. Sometimes you wake up for your paci and all I have to do is go into your nursery and put it back in. You have been in your own room since you were 6 weeks old...and I think you LOVE it!
You HATE your swing! I don't know why, but it is absolutely not fast enough for you. You like to be rocked, bounced, swung, whatever, you name it, BIG! I don't know if you just like it big or ifyou have tummy aches from gas and reflux! Whatver it is that's just how you like it and the swing doesn't go fast enough...plus it slows down and then speeds back up so you just aren't having that! You are on medicine for your reflux and gas. I hate having to give it to you, but the Dr. has reassured me that it is ALL fine! You were taking Zantac, but is changed to Prilosec for your reflux...2 times a day. You are on Mylanta for reflux and gas...4 times a day. You are taking Milicon when you eat and don't take Mylanta (which sometimes is never, but other times is only 1). YOu also recently got exzema but we have some cream that clears it right up! I wish you didn't have it, but I am so glad there is something to fix it if it does happen to pop up. It works almost immediately!
You are getting some fuzz for hair. Its funny cause it's thick around your neck but no where else. I made fun of a kid one time who had pawpaw hair and I think it's coming back to bite me! You will get a full head soon! I have no doubt!
Mommy and Daddy LOVE YOU SO MUCH! You are the best thing that could have ever happened to us and we didn't even know it! We are having such a good time watching you grow and discover the world!
