Well Owen turned one year old on June 18, 2011. I can't believe how fast he has grown. He is learning so much everyday! Sometimes it seems like it flew by and other times (on nights like tonight) it seems like it has gone by so slow. He has started pitching MAJOR fits at bedtime here recently. I can't figure it out...some nights he does fine...some nights he doesn't...he's a mess. I try to just be calm but he definitely gets to me. Now that I am pregnant again, it makes my anxiety come back and I can't help but let my mind go to "that place" of what am I going to do when I have two screaming children! Regardless of how he does at night, he is an extremely happy baby! He is very hyper...never stopping for a minute! He says "bye" on purpose now! FINALLY! He waves, plays patty cake, throws a ball, flips through his books, holds phones up to his ear, and so much more. I just started giving him one nap a day this week...it's not been a struggle...fingers crossed...as of yet, except for when bedtime comes...as I talked about earlier. He sleeps about 2 hours. He is 3 meals a day and a few snacks in between. Juice and Milk. He is not a big milk drinker so I started adding a little bit of nesquick to it and he drinks it a little better. He eats "big people" food...he hasn't had any baby food since I don't even know when. He is also drinking from a hard nipple sippy cup and has been for about a month now. That also wasn't a hard transition. We haven't had any issues with transitions with him and I am so thankful for that. The only issues we've ever had with him really is just his sleep patterns. But I am sure that is the same with all children. He also loves to dance around. He just dances in circles and swings his arms around when he hears music. He has just started paying attention to shows that may not have music and dancing on it...of course cartoon shows mostly. The other day I was watching a baby story on tlc and a lady was having her baby and every time she would make a noise when she was pushing...of course it caught Owen's attention and he would just yell out ahhhhhh. It was too funny! He loves for people to chase him around...I mean cracks up when people chase him around. He runs now and will run when you start chasing him so you have to be careful but he usually knows when he needs to slow down. He has had so many boo boo's...mostly to his little head...because he still doesn't have great balance. He is also very bow legged like his daddy! He also loves bath time. He went through a few weeks where he freaked out when you put him in the water, but he moved past that quickly. He is going through a phase where he likes to throw his food...he tries to feed himself with a spoon but hasn't quite got the whole thing down yet...he doesn't know how to pull it out of his mouth. He has his two front bottom teeth and two front top teeth. He has just started grinding those together and I am hoping he stops! We only give him a pacifier at his nap and bedtime. I haven't been giving it to him when in the car unless he just starts freaking out...which he really doesn't do. He's actually a very good baby and I am so thankful to have him in our lives. Some days I am soooo tired but I still don't know what we would be doing without him...our lives would for sure be boring. That's pretty much it...I am sure there are things I am forgetting...but there just starts to be so much once they start getting bigger...they literally learn something new everyday and change every single day!
He had so much fun on his birthday and LOVED opening all his presents. It was a very hot day so I am glad he did so good. He never once got ill. So here are just a few pictures:
