4-D Ultrasound

Well, obviously I didn't write a new post the night of my last post (like I said I was going to) but I finally got some time to try and catch up (but there will be no weekly pictures of me - I don't have my camera and I haven't really been doing a good job of taking them regularly). Anyway, so I went for a Dr. visit on March 24. I had to have a glucose test done and it took forever! Not to mention I am the BIGGEST baby you will ever meet when it comes to pain and shots/needles. So they took the first couple of tubes of blood and drank the "drink" which was worse than you could imagine and wait 1 1/2 hours. They then went to take the next set of blood samples and tried from a different arm. Did I mention I have rolling veins, so not only do they blow up when a needle is inserted into them, but they have to be pushed on to keep the needle in them (that's if they can get the needle inserted in the first place). So the arm they tried didn't work...it immediately blew up...they then tried the arm they used the first time, but in a different spot...it blew up...then she ended up just having to go back into the same insert from the first set of blood samples. WOW! In the middle of all this pain an older lady was trying to find her way out of the office and I must admit it can be a little confusing, but my patience were not doing good. God love her she probably couldn't read the signs all along the wall that say "exit this way" but I almost lost it. The tech was trying to get this needle to stay in my arm while at the same time point out directions to this little old lady! I almost passed out...it was pretty bad, but that's how I get with needles and blood or maybe it's just the thought of what she was doing is what made me sick...either way, it wasn't fun. The tech was joking around with me and said "how are you ever going to have this baby", i replied with "I honestly have NO idea"!

This past Monday, April 12, I went for my other regular visit. They said i PASSED my G.T. with flying colors! Thank the lord I didn't have to go through the 4-5 hour long test! Everything so far seems to be going good with us. We haven't really had any trouble. Other than the fact that I am a pretty bad complainer, it really hasn't been THAT bad, and I should be lucky everything has been so smooth. She listened to his heartbeat and said it sounded good, and once again gave her a few little nudges (probably b/c he doesn't like ANY of those machines they use, not that he really knows). We talked about my weight. I have gained a total of 20 POUNDS! WOW! She said that was good for now. In the march visit she told me, in a nice way, to lay off the sweets. Little does she know I am the junk food queen. I ate junk food before I got pregnant and maybe I am eating a little more than normal, it's still pretty much normal for me, regardless I tried to watch a LITTLE better. I also had a few photo sessions and took a little walk last Saturday, so that probably helped with the water weight. I only gained 3 punds from March to this past Monday's visit!

Mom and Charlie painted the second coat on the nursery walls on Monday. Hopefully we/they can start on the stripes this weekend, but IDK? I can't wait until it is finished so I can post some pictures. There is still so much to do. A lot are small projects, but are just going to take some time! I ordered the curtains yesterday and I hope they work out! I have decided to accent in blue. I was pretty dead set on no blue, but I think it will add a little something to the room. So the curtains are cream, beige, and blue stripes. I think they will match but I really won't be able to tell until we get the walls finished and some furniture in the room.

Yesterday we had the 4D Ultrasound done. It wasn't covered by insurance so we had to pay for it. We were a little disappointed, but I don't know what we expected exactly. I still enjoyed the experience and was able to get a little glimpse of what Owen may look like. In most of the pictures he looked like Charlie except for his nose. He looks like he has my mom and sisters nose...maybe mine...but definately looks like mom and Erica's! We are so excited and can't wait for him to get here! I am 30 weeks today, so we have 10 more weeks! That seems like forever, but I bet it will fly by! I have my next appointment set for April 26, but it will be just another routine visit. We have our childbirth class on April 24. It lasts all day but hopefully I can learn more about what it is going to be like, because I have absolutely no idea. I read that I should probably start doing some daily stretches/excercises. I am now starting to get pretty uncomfortable...I am having a burning senssation on the top part of my stomach and the skin is SO sensitive. I read that this is my uterus and rib something or another expanding. My uterus will need somewhere to go once it gets that high, so the rib whatever has to stretch out to make room (which causes the burning and sensitive skin). It's crazy how your body just knows to do stuff like this! Anyway, so it's definatly getting uncomfortable...just rolling over from side to side while I am trying to sleep is a hassle.

Owen is about as big as a squash! For the next 2-3 weeks he will be growing to an average size of 15.2 - 16.7 inches and 2.5 - 3.8 pounds. Apparently his energy is surging - this must be why he moves CONSTANTLY! He is still trying to get into sleeping patterns, although he seems like he is always awake to me! All five senses are fully functional! His brain and nervous systme are going through MAJOR development these next few weeks!

During the 4D Ultrasound we were able to see that he definately is a thumb sucker. It's not constant, but he definatly puts it on up there occasionally! He didn't like the machine - when the tech first started she had to push on him to try and get his foot out of the way (which by the way he is holding on to up around his head). It was so funny because when she would push he would kick the little machine thing. He kept making this face with his lips too - it was pretty funny! I am sure this was purely coincidence, but it was funny regardless.

Here are the pictures...obviously they look weird b/c of all the stuff the waves have to go through to read an image. FYI...the thing on his forehead is his foot (unfocused). You could only focus on one section of the image, so it made it difficult to get much detail...but that's just how they all work. Anyway, here he is...
