6 Months Old

We went to the dr. for your 6 month visit and you weighed 17lbs and 13oz. You were 26 ½ inches long. You are in a size 3 diaper. You are still wearing size 6-9 months now. You got a lot of cute clothes for Christmas so you have a few more winter wardrobes than you had!

You are still eating from 6-7oz every 4 hours. Still on SOY. We are still putting 1 TBS of rice per every 2oz of milk in your bottle instead of 1 TBS per oz. You can really hold your bottle by yourself…I just lay you down and you do it all by yourself. You are eating baby food twice a day. You eat like a jar and a half each time you eat. Dr. said I don’t have to give you cereal since you are getting it in your bottle, that baby food twice a day is just fine. You have had all your first foods…you LOVE everything. When you eat it sounds like your are saying num num num num with every bite. It is so cute. You also do this thing where you gag yourself when you are through eating. You don’t spit it out or anything you make yourself eat it…you just gag when you do. You are a little weirdo…my precious little weirdo!

You are talking more and more everyday. You haven’t said dada, but you say mamamamama and bababababa ALL the time. Sometimes you will say nenenenene. You have always been a little slobbery, but you are now pursing your lips together and literally trying to spit everywhere…I think you are trying to see how much you can spit in one day. You get so excited and laugh at things now…I mean you have been laughing but you laugh more now. You are doing so good with grasping onto your toys…you get better everyday. You absolutely love the tags on your toys. You like that better than the actual toys. You do this fake cough…I don’t know how you learned it…but it is so funny. On December 6 you scooted for the first time. It was at Nana’s house and you scooted towards Muff. On December 9 you sat up on your own for 5-10 seconds. By December 13 you were scooting everywhere…I was trying to work on our Christmas cards and you kept scooting over to me. On December 29 you drank from a sippy cup for the first time…you didn’t really catch on so we will try it later. On New Years Eve you sat up for several minutes by yourself. You are now sitting up for such a long time. I of course still have to sit you up…you don’t get up on your own, but you sit for the longest time when I sit you up. On January 3 you started getting on your knees and rocking. You will be “for real” crawling here soon. I give you another week before you figure it out. Bibi and Nana say they think you will be pulling up by the time you are 8 or 9 months old. Bibi said that’s what greg did when he was a baby…she said you remind her of him with your development. I can’t believe that within 6 months you will be walking around. Time flies way too fast. It still feels like just yesterday we were at the hospital and just brought you home. I can’t explain how amazing it is to see you develop from day to day.

You are still sleeping good. You have your nights where you wake up and cry yourself back to sleep, but for the most part you are good. However you are a pain to get to sleep. You stopped letting us rock you and now want us to stand up and bounce you. I didn’t mind rocking you to sleep but standing up and bouncing does a number on my back. Hopefully you will grow out of that soon. You're bedtime is still between 8:00 and 9:00 and you still wake up between 7:00 and 8:00. Morning are your best times! You are still on somewhat of the same schedule...you are up for about 2-3 hours and you are ready for a nap. You have started taking 1-2 hour long naps, but some still only last about 30-45 minutes.

We had your second hearing test done and you passed. We had to have it done because you failed your newborn test and so they require you to have one at a few weeks old and then one at 6 months. This time they put us in a sound proof room and made sounds in all corners of the room. They look at your responses to the noises. You did ok but they had to do the test they did on you when you were a few weeks old and you passed. I remember the first time we went…you were a disaster…You spit up all over you so we had to change you…then you went to the bathroom all over your clothes so we had to change you…then you wouldn’t be still so they kept having to do it over and over. It took the lady like an hour to do the test.

You don’t take zantac anymore. You seem to be just as happy without it and your spit-up is about the same as when you are on it.
Mylicon: 4-5 times a day

I am letting you sit up in the bath now since you have learned to sit up on your own. But I don’t let you do it for very long b/c I am still worried you will fall over into the water…so I am holding onto you the whole time.

You still roll when you start scooting/crawling. The other day I was drying my hair in the bathroom and I looked over and there you were. Daddy was in the kitchen making tea the other night and when he turned around…there you were in the doorway.

You definitely know who me and daddy are. There is no doubt about it. You will reach for me and crawl to me when I reach for you for my hands. When it’s just me and you and I am sitting on the couch or chair or something you will crawl over to me and start trying to crawl up my legs! It is so cute but kind of sad at the same time.

I am still loving EVERY minute with you…well almost every minute…haha…I will not lie, you definitely wear me out sometimes. But I don’t know what I would do without you!
